Yesod of Chesed
Hi everyone, Jordan Drayer, savvy millennial voice actress with a sturdy foundation. Today is the sixth day of the Omer. If you want to know more about the Omer and how it works, check out the links in the description.
The focus today is Yesod of Chesed, the foundation or bonding of loving-kindness. Yesod bonds the rest of the tree to Malchut, the feet and majesty, which we'll learn more about tomorrow. A good, strong foundation, strong bonds are needed in every relationship if it's to last.
The only thing that ties us to others sometimes is circumstance, like that you go to the same school, or you work at the same job. After that, it's normal to lose those people and never think about or see them again in your life. If we truly create bonds with others though, like going to dinner, playing games, comforting each other, that person may stay with you forever, even if you never see them again.
I have friends that meant so much to me in middle and high school, but we faded apart in college. I still remember their birthdays and even dream about them and smile at memories. I meet people who remind me of them in looks or personality. They may not be with me physically anymore, but they still influence some of my thoughts.
I'm still looking for "the one," but I know that friendship is necessary to make a great marriage. You need a foundation of comfort, fun times, and such to fall back on when the hot romance isn't happening. We could even use this between two countries; shared alliances and trading leads to better relationships in general. Or maybe we bond through the Golden Arches Theory of Conflict Prevention... (look up Thomas Friedman).
So for today, maybe start a new tradition with a friend or spouse. On Wednesdays, we wear pink, or that sort of thing. Or just do anything to strengthen a bond, like a game, movie, or beach night. I think I'll simply try to compliment more people around me today. See you next time.
