I’ve always been the type to ask questions until I fully understand the project. I seriously don’t understand people who are afraid to ask questions; as Weird Al sings, “Dare to be Stupid!” If there’s something I’m not clear on regarding the tone, where the commercial or PSA will air, what file type you would like, I will ask! That way, you get exactly what you’re looking for. You can also count on me for quick and detailed responses to your questions.

A Voice Of Variety

 

My natural speaking voice is low, articulate, casual yet authoritative (I don’t do upspeak in real life like many of my contemporaries). This makes me an excellent choice for any ad with a 20-40s target audience. You can count on me for tones like:

• Proud, inspirational, singing the praises of candidate/issue

• Anger (cold and seething or hot outrage)

• Neutral, professional

• Imploring, desperate, guilting

• Comedic, pointing out nonsense, ironic, sarcastic

• Real person, conversational, talking about why I do or don’t like the issue/candidate

I understand that a political voiceover script goes through many revisions before it reaches the actor. I am here to elevate the candidate or issue (or of course, denigrate them, if that’s the angle). If there’s room for improv, I have the background for it and love to play. But otherwise, your script is in safe hands with me; your point of view will clearly ring true.

Why Should We Use Professional Voiceover In Our Political Advertising?

• A political ad with voiceover provided by a professional actor, rather than the candidate or non-trained person, can be sure to really hit the target audience.

• The use of the right professional can either emphasize the issue (using an older voice to reach older demographics) or add nuance (using a female voice to “soften” an attack ad).

• A political ad with voiceover tends to be more memorable. For example, besides the images and/or music, the quality of the voice is yet another thing listeners will hold on to. 

• A commercial with only images could be misconstrued or misunderstood; a voiceover makes sure the message and/or intention is clear.

• Producing a commercial takes time; for a quick response to an attack, an ad with images and voiceover is the way to go.
